Scaled Technology Works in Alliance With V System Composites
Tue Jun 06 18:49:00 EDT 2000

MONTROSE, Colo., Jun 6, 2000 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- Scaled Technology
Works (STW) of Montrose, Colorado and V System Composites (VSC) of Huntington
Beach, California have entered into a business relationship involving production
infusion technologies. The companies have synergistic capabilities that will
offer a great advantage to the composites industry.

The crux of the alliance is a composite manufacturing technology called Vacuum
Assisted Resin Transfer Molding (VARTM). VSC has developed a high quality,
low-cost version of VARTM. "This process can be used to produce very affordable
structures for the aerospace or automotive racing industries, or for other
composite applications which require unitized, low cost composite structures,"
said VSC President, Mike Louderback.

Under the terms of the agreement, VSC will provide both VARTM and Resin Transfer
Molding (RTM) technology to STW in a teaming arrangement to make these
capabilities available to STW's production facility in Montrose, CO. Bill
Wailes, President of STW said, "This is a perfect marriage between our two
companies. VARTM is quickly becoming accepted in the composites industry. It is
more and more becoming the process of choice because of its ability to produce
fairly large structures out of the autoclave, but with the high quality
consistent with higher price manufacturing processes."

The companies will jointly pursue programs using the infusion technologies, with
most of the production work being located in STW's Montrose, Colorado facility.
STW may also use the VARTM technology on internally funded programs and existing
programs.
