COM,
Thanks for the get back. I guess my power supply is OK.

RE:"Perhaps some of our engineer types can enlighten us further.

BTW, what speed processor are you running? You never said how you like your machine, are you as pleased as I have been? Any problems so far? How long have you had it"

Other than experiencing the modem from hell, I'd been very pleased with the machine. The modem (ISA, USR) has been a bit of an adventure. First I didn't jumper it and let Windows find a com port which it decided to switch from com 2 to com 3 to com 1. Not only that but it just decided to stop dialing after a couple of numbers or disconnect half way thru the handshake etc. So I took it out and jumpered it to com 2 and set com a to com 1 and disabled com b in the bios.
So it stayed on com 2 but still dialed erratically. So I changed the bios back to auto and tried a different modem which wouldn't connect at all, maybe because I didn't reinstall my dial up programs. So, I stuck my original modem back in and it works fine now...and I don't know why. All I can figure is that I have/had so kind of IRQ conflict. If it happens again I'll uninstall the sound card and modem and reinstall the modem...see how that works. If it works I'll then install the sound card...which is PCI so I'm still not sure about the conflict. <G>
