Pat,

I have always respected your opinion. You left MRVC thread slightly ahead of the run to peak and subsequently fall to the earth. Why does the CMGI model not appeal to you? If one is an early investor in CMGI, one could have make a big return on the investment.

MRVC is a risky company and perhaps not the right time to invest. It has a family of startup (12-14), and if 30% of it is successful and goes to IPO, it will hold stocks value at least triple its present market value (2.6 billion).

MRVC's babies are not grown and some may die. The component business appear to be okay. In its system business, a lot of the products are in trial and few are shipping. I believe a small position in the company is healthy. It clearly has great potential.

MRVC closed on Friday at $46/share, close to the price you sold the stock and left the thread. It will have two IPO this year, one component and one subsystem business. One part of their component business is located in Taiwan's silicon valley. While I do not believe that business is as cutting edge as SDLI's, one should not overlook the island's ability to make quality products at very competitive prices. Since the next wave in optical networking is metro, where pricing is going to be much more important than the long haul, MRVC is in good position to compete in that business. Whether its babies can ship products in the metro space the second half of the year will determine if it can execute its strategy successfully.

Zaffire, its system affiliate has completed its third round of financing, and could be a very hot IPO this year.

More information could be found under mrv.com.

I like and own JDSU, SDLI and MRVC. I also enjoy your post on this thread and one JDSU.
