SB,

1. intel's intense desire to differentiate itself from amd. amd is a legitimate competitor that will grow as cpus become commodity. intel will only be relatively hurt by the commoditization of this industry.

As the technology leader, it's in Intel's best interest and also it's obligation to set new standards for the industry. That's how you avoid "commoditization". It's also in their best interest to be nimble and flexible if you make a mistake.

3. rambus essentially offered MASSIVE financial incentives to intel to stand behind their product.

Intel has a larger incentive to product the best performing MP computer solutions.

4. intel did not anticipate the current problems and their impact until they already committed to rmbs and couldn't turn back - in fact, they have a contractual obligation to say nice things about rmbs.

Do you have hard evidence of the "contractual obligation", or is that speculation?
