Hi Berney ..

Here in Michigan the price of gasoline jumped last week from ~1.85 to ~2.05. Yesterday the local station went to 2.09.

When I filled yesterday, I asked the attendant if any stations had started to run out yet. She told me that they had come very close. Their supplier had saved them by making a special run to Kentucky to pick up a load. Said that, for the moment, Michigan is out of wholesale gasoling.

I worked at one of those stations, in the 70's, that were the last one in town to have any gas .. not pretty. The guy that is the first to be told there is no more is a very unhappy camper. After all .. he had been in line for a long time .. even with a limit of five gallons the stuff still runs out.

interest = inflation .. yep. if interest = 6% then in the future there has to be 6% more money. The value issued in the loan is returned. The paper is worth 6% less.

However .. when you hit high enough interest rates the economy does slow down. 10 or 15% should do the trick. Once the fed target of slower consumer spending and higher unemployment is achieved then they can lower interest rates and bring in the defaltion phase.

Wonder when folks are going to start talking about the only thing that kept the PPI down was lower energy costs. The fed doesn't use cooked books these days.

time off ........
