Joan, my bet is that your area is suffering the "oxygenated gas" scam that was put into place nationwide on June 1. Here's the schedule: - gas prices go up dramatically, everywhere, for no reason whatsoever - consumer groups start complaining - TV starts making a lot of noise - state Attorney General says this is terrible, big investigation, harrumph, harrumph - big oil says it's just supply and demand, normal market fluctuations, plant conversion to the new fuel, blah blah - hearings make the papers for like three days - nothing comes of it Sorry. We go through this in California every two years or so.
