News out!
Millionaire.com - Lycos Auction Alliance

Millionaire.com - Lycos
Auction Alliance
HILTON HEAD, S.C., June 12 /PRNewswire/ -- E-Bay is widely acknowledged as
the pioneer of Internet auction houses, and in the years since its inception,
imitators have flooded the market like so many computer viruses. Now
Millionaire.com (OTC Bulletin Board: MLRE), in conjunction with Lycos, Inc.
shatters the existing mold, by offering a series of auctions so uniquely
upscale that Web surfers may never look at on-line auctions in quite the same
way again.
Lycos is one of the most visited hubs on the Internet, reaching half of
all United States web users and maintaining a major international presence in
Europe, Asia and Latin America as well. This new partnership offers a potent
combination of Millionaire.com's ultra-high demographics with the incredible
reach of Lycos. These themed on-line auctions, which commence with a vintage
car and automobile memorabilia display on July 15th and continue on the 15th
of every month thereafter, can be viewed at either the Millionaire.com website
or at www.auctions.lycos.com . The auctions promise a tantalizing display of
one-of-a-kind valuables and collectibles, items that are certain to engage the
interest of the most discerning collectors.
No matter how compelling the lots up for bid might be, though, it will be
hard to top the initial collaboration of Millionaire and Lycos, which took
place earlier this year. When the companies got together in January to
auction off an impeccably preserved Tyrannosaurus Rex fossil, complete with
teeth that measured up to 13 inches in length, it ignited an international
media stir that has yet to subside. It was only natural that the companies
decided to form a lasting partnership. Millionaire.com is presently working
with the Owners and the European Buyer of T Rex as they work toward a closure
of a Sale/Purchase agreement for the Tyrannosaurus fossil.
The vintage automobile and memorabilia auction will feature hundreds of
extraordinary items, but two vehicles in particular are likely to cause the
biggest stir. An extremely rare 1931 Isotta Fraschini Tipo 8B Viggo Jensen
Cabriolet d'Orsay that was unanimously voted as the "Best of Show" at the
Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance in 1995 will be on the block, with a starting
bid of 1.75 million dollars. The proud new owner of this vehicle will receive
this year's invitation to the fifteenth annual Pebble Beach show. The Isotta
Fraschini will be recognized with the other few extraordinary "Best of Show"
vehicles that have been selectively chosen to return. An exquisite 1911 Rolls
Royce Silver Ghost Town Car will be offered as well, with bids beginning at
$750,000. This vehicle is absolutely the best specimen of its kind in the
world. Not every item will be approaching or surpassing a seven-figure sale
price, however.
There is a 1937 Ford Cab Hot Rod and a 1957 Mercedes Benz 220S Convertible
trophy winner at Mercedes Concours 1999 that will also be available. Other
unique and rare vehicles will include a 1929 Ford Model "A" that will be
offered at an initial bid price of $18,500, an original "Whizzer" Motor Bike
from 1946 that will start at $5,000, a 1949 Chrysler Royal featured in the
film "Driving Miss Daisy" that will start at $15,000, and a Volkswagen
Limousine -- guaranteed that there is not another one quite like it! Besides
automobiles themselves, auction attendees will find automobile memorabilia
such as signed original paintings, bronze statues, watches, original NASCAR
suits worn by well known drivers, and a Lalique "Spirit of Ecstasy" figurine.
Famous boats will be the theme of the August 15th auction. A selection of
classic wooden boats will be offered, including a dual cowl century inboard
from the 1940s. Also offered will be items from the White Star Line, Titanic
memorabilia, shipwrecked treasures and original tugboats, as well as a
selection of authentic oars, buoys, statues and artwork. In September, it
will be time for the "Wild, Wild West." Silver saddles; antique gambling
devices; gold nuggets; Indian, cavalry and outlaw memorabilia; authentic
cowboy hats; silver spur sets; and notable western artwork will all be
auctioned.
"We feel that the alliance between Millionaire.com and Lycos is going to
be an absolute home run," explains Elizabeth Acuff, the auction manager for
Millionaire.com's Global Auction Emporium near Hilton Head Island, SC, the
broker-in-charge for the Lycos account. "These auctions will attract a very
special clientele, because the items we'll have up for bid are simply
unavailable elsewhere. Our extensive connections throughout the world allow
us access to uniquely valuable products that are sure to capture the
imagination of serious collectors everywhere.
"There is no shortage of auctions available for viewing and participating
across the Internet. We'll distinguish ourselves from the rest. The
collaboration between Millionaire.com and Lycos will not only stand out, but
set a standard for luxury and exclusivity that we believe to be unparalleled
to this point," concludes Robert L. White, CEO and President of
millionaire.com. "Simply put, there will be nothing else like this in the
world. In a very short time, the most discerning buyers in the world will
have a chance to judge for themselves."
