Why has DDR been so slow to develop if it is so simple

I think Carl Bilow posted his opinion, which I found reasonable: There has been no need for higher bandwidth memory. Memory bandwidth has just not been the bottleneck. I think the main problem with Intle jumping on Rambus was timing. It was just too early. Rambus may prove to be a good technology for part of the market at some point.
