Have you scanned your file system for altered or corrupted files or subfolders? In win 98: Start/ programs/accessories/system toosl/system info/tools/system file checker. This utility allows you to extract files from your installation CD'S or floppys to replace corrupted or changed files, drivers, ect. that may be found- worth a shot.
