LF,

Overtrading is very dangerous. One of my rules is that I trade in the pre-market (liquid issues only) and up until about 10:15-10:30. After 10:15 or so, much of the morning volatility has worked itself out of the market. So, I stop. Sometimes I trade in the last hour. That's it. There are many traders here who are much better than I am, and who make many trades each day. I'm happy if I can make 5-6 good round trips per day.

I record my trading every day in an Excel spreadsheet and then I print it out. I found that before 10:15 and after 3:00, I did pretty well. In the majority of cases, my trades between 10:15 and 3:00 were fair at best. Many of these trades wiped out my morning gains. So, I just quit trading between 10:15 and 3:00. For me, it's too dangerous.

Hope this helps.

Regards,

Dan.
