First, they couldn't get the numbers in on time. Almost certainly, this will never happen again. Second, with Ken gone, accountants may be trying to sort out what beans go where.

Lenox is playing it straight, telling the information that should be told and withholding that which should be withheld. Ask the firm about the future and you will be told something like this: "Events are happening that will culminate in future events."

It may be that cause and effect is only part of this story and that past events are necessary to cause subsequent events, which happen according to a pre-ordained plan.

In any case, I have reason to hope that from now on, Lenox will be working with Forethought.
