It looks like Inprise's Application Server is shaping up to give BEA Systems a run for their money. My count-down clock indicates another three months before JSP and products like Inprise Application Server combined with JBuilder are being talked about in Wall Street power lunches. What will become immediately apparent is the almost insurmountable barrier to entry for competitors. Not the Application Server but tools for generating applications to run on it. What a fluke. I'm convinced Inprise could never have planned to be sitting in the driver's seat, but they very well could be.
