Anybody know what a PSM does? chosun.com Samsung Unveils New PSM Samsung Electro-Mechanics announced Tuesday that it had invented the first Position Switching Module (PSM) for IS-95C that can transmit images and data. IS-95C is the protocol that can transmit moving images and several kinds of data for entry level to the IMT-2000 system. The company plans to launch a commercial service in October. An official explained that this PSM has a 1/100th signal processing time which enables transmission of image data and has a reduced size because it puts three previously separate components in the handset on one board. The PSM is the main component of a mobile cellular phone that can recognize broad band signals. Samsung stated that it will start producing the new PSMs from September targeting one million this year, and increase the production to more than 30 million next year.
