The only thing we are allowed to carry is pepper spray. This is really nasty stuff, you really don't want to get it anywhere near your face. If you can hit the dog in the eyes, which is not always easy, it usually stops them or slows them down. The problem is that you have to have the pepper spray in your hand and dogs can be extremely fast. In this particular instance I was carrying two large packages up to a house, and when I spotted the shepherd he was already making a beeline directly for me. I shoved the packages at him but lept over them and into me. Bummer.
