Hello DownSouth,

I believe that you cut and paste my text out of context
and perhaps it should have read "unfortunate that I was American or DW's comment about typing slowly would have been better" (as I said to him touche, and if he doesn't mind I would like to use that one in the future).

I am a proud American (who also lived in the UK for a while
and travels to Europe quite a bit) and my fear as a
QCOM shareholder is that if QCOM was to strike a deal
with a European based cellphone manufacturer there would
be a negative reaction in the markets based on the remarks
in this forum.

The question you raised about when will the cost/performance
benefits of CDMA push European countries to adopt CDMA
I believe that can be answered by the fact that all of Europe HAS or WILL adopt WCDMA (QCOM).

A collegue of mine points out that QCOM may be alot further
ahead in WCDMA then has been let on, with a few
neat technical twists (all patented of course).

Perhaps however I do not know enough about the royalty
structure.

Now here is a question to you: What is the difference
between the Royalties that QCOM receives for CDMA2000
and WCDMA?

ed.
