Why haven't ... evolved over the last ... million years The simple answer is that they survived okay just the way they are. An organism which reproduces by sexual mixing of the genes will tend to remain centered around the largest common group of genes. Variations are less likely to be involved in the sex than are the normal and usual varieties. It's only when the variation provides a definite survival advantage that they may displace the norm. The "goal" of sex is to have kids as much like you as possible. TP
