Personally I think, one person per membership (no matter what), should be the standard.
Another situation in which something that, at face value, should be very black and white is actually just a very dark gray. A charcoal issue, if you will.
I can easily and quickly give examples of things that violate the spirit of the "assignment" part of the Terms of Use and the situation I was addressing today is one of them. Someone was using account assignment as a way to avoid paying what we require payment for, and could have easily posted something for which the original account holder would be considered accountable.
The issue doesn't come up very often, so we address it on a case-by-case basis. For example, a small IR firm that clearly identifies itself as an IR firm has 3 people within that firm using the same account, with our permission. They are one entity in all the ways that matter.
I know that doesn't give all of the desired info, but it'd be impossible to give a clear, concise accounting of how each imaginable scenario would be handled.
The general rule of thumb I use is whether the multiple people comprise a single entity. I want to at least ensure that, should the need arise, the account traces back to a single firm or single person.
