No ... heard of Darwin among the Machines, haven't read it yet ... it could have been an essay in a book of them ... i have a thing for short pieces, short stories, anthologies, etc ... probably have this piece within six metres, can't think where ... it was great because it gave names and quotes from people spanning a thousand years or more.

Unrelated but more on-topic is this one i just tripped across looking for the other - Engels' 'Origin of the family, private property, and the state' ... huge amount of eclectic anthropological detail, fascinating ... title of last chapter is 'Labour in the transition of ape to man', lol ... i suspect he would rather hand Eli n to Castro than to Juan Miguel.
