Caxton, regarding WCDMA. you may want to call the VP or CEO at ADI before committing to your thinking regarding WCDMA. ADI stated, frankly, they (a) wouldn't have committed a year of design to WCDMA if it didn't work and work efficiently compared to current RF systems, and (b) wouldn't have selected WCDMA first (over CDMA 1X) for chip design if they didn't consider the format a cost effective tool not only for themselves but for the operators who plan to implement the systems.

your information regarding base stations and WCDMA working format is possibly based on information contained in a recent article which was using old data to support its WCDMA claims. the article claimed ERICY was using a "van" for WCDMA. that is over a year old.
