Tony,

I don't know the technical reasons why Brocade chose to use Rambus so you'll have to dig that out yourself.

I have enough trouble wading thru Bilow's lengthy diatribes on why he thinks RDRAM is dead.

He could have made a lot of money on Rambus. Still can. It's splitting tomorrow 4/1 and there is enough stock now authorized for another 4/1. Why do you suppose Rambus asked for and received authorization for 500 million shares when there are currently only around 25 million issued and only 15 million floating?

AG - I listened to his VERY technical comments today. He never fails to impress me. It's like going to my favorite economics class and listening to him think out loud. Bottom line was increases in productivity are continuing and the aggregate statistics that are commonly used to measure it do not do it well but the disaggregated data show it "AND ARE QUITE PERSUASIVE" (his words). He likened the import of the change that has occurred in the speed of information availability to the change that occurred in the period before and after the civil war.

He went on to explain how having access to more accurate information in almost real-time has lessened the level of uncertainty and therefore risk in the business world. Productivity increases by holding less inventory and by not having to stockpile employees to lessen risk have both meant that capital investment is being used more efficiently that ever before. He gave great credit to companies (like Intel) who continue to increase the capability of their products at lower and lower costs.

There was lots more detail. It would be a good read but I don't have a link.

The market seemed to turn from down to begin to head up as he was talking.

After digesting his speech, it really took off with INTC leading the way.

I'd blame AG for the positive move in INTC today. Frank Morris - are you reading this?
