Calling all gardners!!!
This year I decided to plant a vegetable garden. It's roughly 14ft x 20ft My plants seem to be doing great, except for one problem.
I have a few rabbits that have been eating most of my plants.
Some of my tomato plants, peppers, broccoli, and lettuce appear to be the little rascle's favorites.
My plants are still youngish and have only just begun to flower. However, every day or so, a few more plants are chewed up to just barely a stem sticking out of the ground.
I put a fence around the garden, but did not dig it into the ground. The rabbits keep digging under.
Do you know of any methods I may try to keep these hungry guys out of my garden? I don't mind sharing, but they are getting greedy.
Target practice is not a desired option.
Would a scarecrow work? (or does that only work on birds...)
How about a stuffed animal? I tend to doubt that a cute, cudly teddy bear would scare off a rabbit... or would it?
Actually, I'm not sure if my 3 year old is ready to give up one of his stuffed animals just yet...
Any advice would be appreciated.
Would periodic shots from a cannon work? :^)
Perhaps, that's an idea... sort of...
I could put my old Cannon Printer in the garden. The rabbit would see it and get confused. He'd just stare at it for a while. ...wonderin' why it's in the garden... Then he'd try to do what I did. He'd try to get it working... He'd push every button, check every cable, blow the dust out of it, slap it on the side a few times... Reconfigure it to be the default printer... Reinstall the printer driver... Put in new ink cartridges... Lift it upside down and shake it a few times...
...and eventually give up, bang it a few times in frustration, and leave.
Perhaps I found my answer. Sometimes, typing stuff out, helps one to find the answer he/she was looking for...
I'd still like your opinions, though.
