Mobile 'phones have taken off in Europe for the same reason they have taken off over here, they are convenient. It has nothing to to with antiquated perceptions of poor quality 'phone systems. The Europeans are behind in mobile phones from the start That is nonsense. MOT and ERICY were field trialling GSM in Europe during the late eighties and early nineties. Major digital networks were in place in Germany and the UK years before their counterparts in the US. w.
