World DRAM Price] Contract Prices of 128Mb DRAMs in Asia Rise
June 14, 2000 (TOKYO) -- The prices of 128Mb DRAM microchips for large-volume users have begun to rise in the Asian market due to the increasing demand for PCs.

In the North American market, however, those prices turned down. It is assumed it's because they appeared distinctively expensive in the North American market compared with other markets or those for 64Mb DRAM microchips.

According to the survey on worldwide DRAM prices conducted by ICIS-LOR, which is based in London, Houston and Singapore, the 30-day rolling average prices of 128Mb DRAMs (PC133, 16M x 8) for large-volume users between April 27 and May 26 were US$14.40 in North America, US$12.86 in Europe and US$11.26 in Asia.

Compared with the 30-day rolling average prices up to May 19, the prices declined 2.04 percent in North America, increased 0.68 percent in Europe, and rose 0.10 percent in Asia. The spot prices for 128MB DIMM (PC133) memory modules declined 1.92 percent from the previous week to US$108.24 in North America, fell 0.69 percent to US$104.20 in Europe, and declined 1.01 percent to US$97.65 in Asia.
