Jozef,

Intel's compiler is a plug-in to the MS environment. It IS used by a LOT of performance oriented SW developers.

Case #1: Intel's Processor Specific Graphics Pipeline for Direct3D (a MS product) was written in C++ and used the Intel C++ compiler for the required "performance" files and the MS VC environment for the rest. I wouldn't hesitate to say that it's widely used, huh?

I could give many other cases (i.e. game engines) that use it as well as many other multimedia (e.g. video applications) that use it. I will not since I can't "name names" due to obligations I have at work.

Let's just say: "It's a real compiler used very widely on performance minded applications"

Cheers,

Haim
