Lycos.com Deploys Fast Search & Transfer Technology

This is very positive (but maybe not unexpected since
Lycos owns stake of FAST) for FAST.

biz.yahoo.com

WALTHAM, Mass. and OSLO, Norway--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 14, 2000-- Lycos, Inc. (NASDAQ: LCOS - news),
the Internet's leading multi-brand network, today announced its Lycos.com main search database has grown to the top spot in Web coverage with more
than 340 million Web pages. Powered by Fast Search & Transfer(TM) (FAST(TM)), a leader in Internet search technology, Lycos now offers the largest
search database on the Web today. The companies are on the path to achieve a one billion URL catalog in the coming year.

``Lycos.com search has made a tremendous leap forward in catalog size and quality and is now providing the largest catalog on the Web giving users the
greatest opportunity to find the right match to their queries,'' said Ron Sege, executive vice president of Lycos. ``Lycos has collaborated with FAST on
search products such as FTP, MP3 and multimedia, so this new agreement with FAST on Web search technology is a natural extension of our search
strategy. By identifying the best search technologies and adding them to our own proprietary approaches, we are able to create search sites that help the
user more easily exploit the power of the Internet.''

``We are pleased to be expanding our strategic relationship with Lycos by powering both Lycos main and advanced Web searches, and are looking
forward to further Lycos deployment of FAST search technologies on other Lycos domestic and international properties,'' said Rob Fisher, CEO of Fast
Search & Transfer ASA. ``We have stated publicly that our goal is to eventually search the entire Web, and FAST's commitment to building a catalog of
over one Billion URLs is further evidence of our striving toward this goal. We know of no other search architecture that can efficiently scale to this
magnitude and still provide response times of less than a second.''

On June 5, WebSideStory, Inc. reported that Lycos has risen to become one of the leading most popular referring search engines according to their
StatMarket application. StatMarket's search referral statistic reports on the amount of traffic a search engine directs, or refers, to other Web sites.

``We have made some dramatic enhancements to our search products over the past several months making popular and timely information more
accessible to our users,'' said Lincoln Jackson, group product manager of search & integration at Lycos.com. ``By integrating FAST into our Lycos.com
search products, we deliver on the more unique and specific requests of our users. It's simple: We want our users to be satisfied across the entire
spectrum of their queries 100% of the time.''

Lycos and FAST have signed a multi-year agreement for FAST to provide Lycos with access to FAST's advanced Web Search technology. FAST
technology has been a key component of Lycos Advanced Search since December 1999 and has significantly contributed to the product's growth in daily
page views. FAST is now integrated into Lycos.com's main search service.
