But just like the "earth is flat" theory and the earth is the "Center" of the universe belief, I suggest that we NOT be as myopic as our ancestors in accepting everything with questioning the facts.

Sound advice, add to it: becoming aware of the present realities and adjust, be open to the new set of circumstances.

Like a good quarter back in foot ball, who has identified a specific formation on the defensive line, he changes the strategy, "on the run", and calls out a different play... or else risk being sacked. (and probably plastered).

Changes need to be in deeds not only in words. NOW, today, not "we'll study it and think about it", like any other bureaucrat.

YES, indeed the Evolution is a plausible explanation as to our existence, but we do NOT have definitive evidence yet.

Fine, I am listening, but please, spare me the dogma, the preachings and the miracles, give me valid explanations.

...and if you can not come up with some, then believe in what you will, but let others believe in what they will, do not attempt to convince others (and children), of your beliefs.

So let us continue raising questions, something which Galileo shortsighted peers did not do.

I will do better than that, I will not put you to the stake to burn, nor I will call you a communist, nor I will call you immoral, nor I will consider you heretic, nor.. blah, blah, blah....

... however, I will reserve the right to call you an idiot, if you start any form of indoctrination, or argue in circles, ignoring clear facts, pretending to paint them in your favorite color that serve your particular ideology.

I will give you an example of the last point:

It is clear that most, (if not all), of the 3rd. world countries suffer of over-population. Indeed, their populations have exploded in the last, say, 50 years.

I have seen the conditions under which they live. At best, they are miserable. Most people in the "industralized western world" would not let their dogs live like that.

Yet... People who oppose to any sort of "family planning" that would include use of condoms, pills, etc. (and under specific circumstances, abortion), will attempt to say that the "over-population" problem is a figment of some "alarmist's" imagination. They begin to argue that the world is not technically overpopulated, making idiotic arguments that at one point they become irrelevant to the problem.

It is at best, an insult to one's intelligence.

It is not that I want to hold a closed view of specific positions, it is simply that I do not want to waste time arguing things that I have seen by myself and they are simply indefensible positions.

Like arguing that 2 + 2 = 5

I would listen to a genuine question, doubt, even an erroneous argument. But I refuse to consider an argument built around a dogmatic perspective.

I think you understand the difference.
