Although I agree with you that ULBI and VLNC are expressing different strategies, I don't see those strategies being manifested in the "successful promise of announcements for delivery" as opposed to a "damn the torpedoes.." approaches.

ULBI appears to be targeting a particular aspect of the retail, hang on a hook "Radio Shack" concept, first with secondary approaches to OEM's. VLNC's looks to be doing the inverse, targeting particular aspects of OEM's requirements first. I can find no fault with either strategy. Indeed, based on both companies recent PR's, it's reasonable to conclude both are succeeding at their respective game plans.

Sooo, as an investor/speculator, I find another key idea is the one about spreading the risk around a bit. In times past I have been in, and out, and in on ULBI. With this news perhaps a longer term "risk assessment" plan is now in order. A market sector portfolio reflecting holdings in both companies ain't necessarily a bad plan.

IMHO, of course.
