I just got out of a all afternoon meeting and it looks like I missed a beautiful close. Last I saw AMD was at $88, then a few hours later I see the close of $83!!! If you want to see why AMD tanked, always go to the yahoo boards first. All they can talk about is Dresden has MAJOR production problems. I guess they're referring to this:

host.cnbc.com

Mass production of the newest Athlon (code named Thunderbird) is set for the third quarter. Samples were available at the Computex show here last week, but observers complained of uneven quality. "The CPUs that AMD fabbed out of their Austin, Texas, plant run OK," said one industry insider. "Those from their new Dresden, Germany, fab have some problems."

Anyways, I mailed Toni and hope to get an answer. I think EVERYONE reading SI should send her an email also until we get an official answer. I think AMD needs to squash these rumors before they blow up in our faces.
