I regard the new incident in los alamos lab as a new attempt by the unhappy employee set up to give bill richarderson a fit.
Why this administration like Richarderson so much? Not because this guy is so great, but because he is Hispanic and democrates want their vote badly in election.
Just like OJ Simperson case, if you poll the Aferican American, majority don't believe he murdered his wife. But majority of white believe he did. If you poll the wenho lee case, i believe the same result will be found. Asian and myself don't believe that he is a spy. Yes, he had some securities lapse in his work and might leaking a little secret information out during academic exchange. But You can argue that some more seriously violation cases are not charged. It is wrong, but not uncommon practice in the Lab that people bring their works to home. Exchange programs with Russia, China, and many others are the conduct encouraged and approved by DOE . Also I believe Lee knew only tiny bit his portion of job, not big secrete. In others words, we all konw Lee is single out as a political scapegoat after Chirs Cox congress report.
Personally, I feel this is a turning point. During 1992 to 1997, US looks friendly towards China. Newspaper such as Wall Street Journal frequently praised the achievement of chinese economic reform. But,after the fund raising "scandal"( Many different countries involve in funding US politics, but China is single out) the wind turn to hostility for not much reason disregarding the offer from china side's offer of building "strategy partner" relationship and overall positive progress inside china.
Those secrete jobs can sign on quickly, but hard to sign off. Unless someone is real patriot, those people may ended loss their freedom to jail or follow by CIA, FBI for the whole life. What is the trade off? |
