My husband feels as you, that his ideal woman would tramp around looking for mineral specimens. He has taken me on numerous treks and on each I managed to be injured in some very novel manner. I will never forget our trek in the mojave, when walking by an intermittent stream I stepped on some variety of ground dwelling bee. I had my hair in two braids over each ear, and the bees swarmed my head and got stuck in my hair buzzing loudly right over my ears and stinging my head. I was terrified and began to jump up and down, cursing and screaming, when my husband yelled stand still, which I did. He then proceeded to beat me over the head with his trusty clipboard (to kill the bees, he said.) We also saw a large pack of feral dogs on that trip, which was a big thrill.
