Yes, I've been expecting good times since the recession I thought we'd get after Clinton raised taxes didn't come about. I think working & living in the Silicon valley and seeing just how many new ideas, dreams, markets etc. are actually being worked on... and how the whole World will benefit from the winning ideas, it makes me bullish for the future.

RE: An investor/trader should always analyze potential problems before making decisions.

The news out of Korea is huge and yet.... did it get discussed with equal weight as the Taiwan election here on this bear thread? 8)

I've noticed that this thread has lost SOME objectivity as has Brinker as both favor the bearish news to try to justify a certain investment posture. That is fine, but much value of the thread is lost when good news is ignored.

re CA refineries:

This is a wholo new topic to make a Bay Area citizen's blood boil. The government IS looking into price gouging and other issues. We had gasoline as much as $0.30 a gallon different in different areas of the State with prices set more on ability to pay rather than distance from refinery. The two corner gas stations that used to have price wars are now owned by the same company due to the most recent merger... I just saw a sign on one that it has been sold to some independent I never heard of.... Price fixing is illegal but if you talk to the station owners, they didn't make much meaning the refineries were charging what they could get and probably colluding to fix prices. Why would a refinery 30 miles from my home charge the local station $0.30 a gallon more than it charges a station 200 miles away out in the sticks? Anyway, more would get into politics... 8)

Changes in our Structure: We used to be a manufacturing society. The ECRI link I gave to our site yesterday - had an article there that says we are about 80% service now. Energy price is much less a factor on the economy now then it was in 1973/74. I DO think people will tire of their 4x4s that never get off road and burn gasoline quickly in traffic.... until that happens, we will have some problems with gas prices... many will solve it with telecommuting. One friend at Intel manages a team that is located in many different locations. He is in the process of moving to a cheaper place to live that is a similar commute to an Intel facility and yet he gets 2x the house as mine for about 1/5th the cost! I see more of this in the future.
