Ah, the Latimer thing ... sort of near the topic alright ... i haven't followed it closely at all ... briefly - single father of invalid of 12 years in almost constant intense pain without hope of recovery puts her in a pickup truck with a hose leading the exhaust gases into the cab ... court gives him life but does not stipulate 'without parole', so as it stands he is out in ten years, he is appealing the sentence ... [or is the Crown appealing the sentence ... i'm not sure] ... those who follow this story seem to have strong opinions on it, and seem fairly evenly split on the question.
The Herbert Norman flic turned out to be an NFB production, and they have the whole transcript online - herbertnorman.com ... here's a short bio on him - nfb.ca ... just another Cold War story, in this case quite early on, unlike the Eli n story which is sort of a cocked-up rematch.
I may have overstated the dislike of the distilled - i do know Lagavulin, and have the heel of a bottle nearby ... likewise Glenlivet ... a full bottle and a half of Laphroiag, though ... love that bouquet, the peat spectrum taken near to creosote ... but i do not drink it, only a sip now and then ... while i consider quality beer&wine to form an important and basic food group -g-
