there are actually lots of good t/a books on the market...the classic is the one by Edwards & Magee, "technical analysis of stock trends". that's very good for the basics.
then there's a book on candlestick charting by Steve Nison,

then there's "technical analysis of financial markets" by John Murphy and "mastering elliot wave" by Glenn Neely.

that i think covers just about all the bases.

another one you could read is 'studies in tape reading' by Rollo Tape, a classic from 1910.
