Adelle, VRTX is more like a V-cup and handle. The V just means the base has not had enough time to form solidly and therefore no rounding occurred. It just spiked down and then up so the breakouts from a V-cup are more volatile and less dependable than from C-Cup. On the other hand, VRTX is a favorite biotech (unless there is bad news) and biotechs are not the kind of stocks that wait and form solid bases
