A guy named "Dale LaRoy Splitstone" claims on Ace's thread that 60% of Intel's Q3 shipments will be Katamai based. He doesn't provide a link (yet), but he is usually reliable. This meshes with the new demand for BX chipsets.

aceshardware.com

customer to MickeyD - "What's the lifetime of the platform of computers your tring to sell me? Going to be phased out when? Don't know!"

Q3 is going to be fun, with Duron taking on all that katamai in the 600 MHz range. Would Intel put itself in this position if "supply is good?" Sounds like a great time to introduce a fickle 170 mm chip on your precious 0.18 lines! (LOL) Not to mention the EPIC heater saga!

Now I know why there is an industry shortage of SRAMS (sorry I don't have a link, but I read it a week or so ago), even just as AMD is moving to socket design. How long does it take to ramp up sram production? And how much are Intel's ASP's going to be reduced in the third quarter because of packaging costs? When does Intel report Q2? They will have to guide down for Q3- buy back your puts!
