Glenayre and MobileSys Team Up to Provide @ctiveLink(TM) Wireless DataAnd Messaging Solutions for the Enterprise
CHARLOTTE, N.C., June 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Glenayre Technologies Inc. (Nasdaq: GEMS) today announced that it is teaming with MobileSys, Inc. to develop wireless enabling solutions for the enterprise utilizing Glenayre's @ctivelink(TM) module for the Handspring Visor(TM) handheld computer and the nationwide ReFLEX two-way data networks.
The @ctivelink is a two-way wireless messaging module that snaps seamlessly into the Springboard slot on the back of the Visor, providing users with untethered access to Internet-based messaging and information applications. The @ctiveLink provides Always @ctive(TM) connectivity whether or not it is inserted in the Visor, operates on ReFLEX networks that provide the broadest nationwide coverage and superior building penetration, and has exceptional, typically month-long, battery life. Utilizing MobileSys' recently introduced MobileSys MX, Glenayre's @ctiveLink module with the Visor will be able to access corporate enterprise applications -- such as email, network management, customer call center, sales force automation and others -- allowing mobile workers instant access to the information they need, when they need it.
MobileSys MX is a scalable server solution designed to manage millions of message recipients over virtually any wireless protocol and service provider. Under this agreement MobileSys will enhance its product to include communication with the @ctiveLink using ReFLEX networks as yet another wireless option for access to enterprise data.
"We are pleased to be working with MobileSys to better deliver solutions into the enterprise environment. The powerful combination of the Palm OS and the ReFLEX wireless technology provide an industry standard device operating system with the most widely deployed wireless data networks. By enabling the @ctiveLink on the MobileSys MX product, we will open a whole new level of wireless data solutions for the mobile and active worker," said Jim Kelly, senior vice president -- business development and chief marketing officer at Glenayre.
