Investartist, we meet again.

One of the challenges with G* service as I see it is it's not simply another wireless plan. The target market are dozens of niches spread all over the world. So how do you reach these ranchers, yachters, oil drillers, etc. in one fell swoop? It simply takes time. You can't simply blitz-krieg the airwaves with ads and stick the G phones in every retail outlet. They only have use for 40 million out of 6 billion people on planet earth.

Now, having been in a wholesaling business with a lot of "repeat business," I can tell you that one very effective means to sell a product like this is over the telephone. Surely Airtouch and the other SPs have lists and lists of customers who fit the G* profile. They ought to have about 100 full-time employees doing nothing but telemarketing to these individuals, introducing themselves, explaining who Globlastar is, describing the satellite/cellular service and SELLING them the phone!
(if we had 100 full-time commissioned sales people calling 200 customers a day and closing on average, and closing 20% of those calls, that's 2000 sales per day...or 10,000 sales per week or 40,000 G* sales per month). And tell these salespeople "Coffee is for closers!"

Telemarketing is JUST ONE marketing strategy, but I feel it would be incredibly successful if targeted to the most likely individuals to use the service. And again, surely Airtouch knows who they are!

My two cents.
What do you think?
