Daniel,

I'm sorry to say but what I hear about management seems to be justified by the employee's. An 8 hour day consist of:
30% for CMM
30% for reviewing data to see if things are meeting the penalty clause of the contract.
20% on personal objectives
20% working on projects that should be going out the door.

Tell me a company that can stay in business having employee's doing only 20% production work.

Another one I hear is management doesn't have a clue what is going on related to the projects or the customer.

Kicking butt may not be the answer, look at what Brown did to the higher level management and look where the stock price is today.
