BRUSSELS -- Shares for Global TeleSystems Inc (GTS) jumped 22% after the borderless broadband services company stock exchange revealed on Thursday it had signed an agreement with Profil ARBED Distribution (PAD), a subsidiary of Luxembourg steel manufacturers Arbed SA.
GTS, which is listed on the EASDAQ, is to create a pan-European Internet protocol virtual private network for PAD linking its 20 different sites and data in France, Germany, and the Benelux region.

GTS? network is expected to create more functional and cost-effective connections than the traditional privately leased networks. In a statement, Etienne Winters, general director of PAD division Metalim NV said the company choosing GTS will create "a shortcut to the future of European steel distribution."

On the EASDAQ, shares for GTS were up 22.5%, trading at $15.00 in the mid-afternoon. The company is also listed on the Frankfurt stock exchange and the New York Stock exchange.
