Re: MSO Stats: ATT and Time Warner
Thread- Since ATT has closed it's deal with MediaOne, I wanted to update their stats.
The New ATT -16 million cable TV subs today -28 million homes passed -11 million homes can potentially have cable modem -600,000 Cable Modem subs -100,000 to 200,000 range for telephony customers. It's a guess because I don't know what MediaOne had signed up. -Major markets: Chicago, San Francisco, Boston, Seattle, Miami, Denver, Atlanta, Portland, Dallas, Pittsburgh, Minneapolist, Salt Lake City
Time Warner -12.6 million cable TV subs -21 million homes passed -450,000 cable modem subs
ATT is selling it's interest(acquired via MediaOne) in RoadRunner. So ATT's only high-speed ISP will be Excite@Home. And more than likely, it will sell off it's equity position in competitor, Time Warner.
But the biggest deal yet, will be when ATT has an agreement to offer local cable telephony services to Time Warner's customers. I'm guessing AOL, who seems to want to get into everything, may be holding the deal back. I keep wondering if we are going to be hearing about AOL getting into the local phone and long distance business.<g> -MikeM(From Florida) |
