Good morning porchers,

I hope all the party goers have a great time and give a thought or two to old 'Sting' working away in Arkansas.

Like most of you I have been trying my best to figure out what the hell is going on with the unrelenting FUD. I think QCOM's re-statement of their IPR position serves to define the source of the problem and their awareness that they will soon be at war to defend it.

From a military standpoint, the FUD was really propaganda and mis-information designed to weaken popular support for the IPR holder by creating doubts in the minds of the general public as well as the active supporters. The propaganda war precedes the outbreak of hostilities and is used to obtain the best possible setting for battle.

When one looks at the wireless 'big picture,' it is obvious that CDMA is the best solution at this time and until something better is invented. That said, QCOM is the master of the situation and everyone else in wireless has to pay the toll. For some of the larger and successful companies out there - that is a hard pill to swallow - without a fight. The only obvious way to change the situation seems to be to break the IPR barrier. The first skirmish found the Q too strong and failed; but, it did provide information on Q's position and preparedness. That kind of information gathering is always the first step to war planning.

I think what we are seeing is the lead-in to an all out assault of QCOM's IPR.
