Hi Wayne, still chasing that pot of gold, are ya? Aren't we all!
Read this in the May edition of the History Magazine about Alchemists. Thought it was fitting and though times change, some things still remain the same.

In those rare cases where alchemists weren't solely concerned with riches, alchemists still had to appear to be close to success in order to please their rich and poweful sponsors.....Though modern chemistry has reaped benefits from nobility's generous patronage of alchemy, the nobles themselves never saw any returns on their investments.
