Re: I made a boatload of money off the Toshiba announcement this morning! Scumbria, Congrats on your Rambus stradle. This announcement is very perplexing. For the past 6 months we've been getting all of these signs that the entire memory industry hates Rambus (the company) and its royalty scam. Then Toshiba signs up with Rambus for higher royalties on DDR than on DRDRAM??? This is my take on the situation: In retrospect, I think the issue had nothing to do with royalties or Rambus (the company). I think the real issue was that DRDRAM is such a bad technology (for computers). The memory makers didn't want to get sucked into a Rambus/Intel scheme where DRDRAM would be made the primary memory choice for computers. I really hope that this move by Toshiba doesn't change Intel's plans of continueing to push the terrible technology of DRDRAM. It will be very interesting if the other memory makers strike deals similar to Toshiba, or if they shun Toshiba for this move. Either way, this stock should stay very volitile for some time to come. Are you going to roll your gains into another stradle? chic
