At least if you kill your own kids you aren't depriving any other parents of their children. So in this sense killing one's own children would seem more "unnatural" but less offensive to society. Assuming the other parent didn't agree you in the killing you are only hurting one parent- whereas a murderer who goes out and kills someone else's children injures two parents.

Of course it IS offensive to society- but I think that is only because it frightens us so much that such possibilities exist within us. Lots of people need to deny and demonize the people who do such things. This is the wrong tack (imo). We need to admit that we are all capable of monstrous things, maybe not the same monstrous things, but most of us are capable- but most of us are never put in the position where the monstrous begins to seem the answer. And because we are lucky and we are never tested we should have understanding- but most don't. I don't know why that is.

I understand and feel my luck. I've had a great deal.
