You came to the right place with this one David. I work with ed-tech non-profits (technologies in K-12 schools). --- Here's the real deal: You can't GIVE PCs away these days to schools. They don't want 'em. Too much work. Too difficult to admin. Two of the largest non-profits involved in the distribution of PCs to school have recently *ceased to be involved in that activity. The truth is that this self-administering PC promise of MSs's no loger plays. --- The trend is DEFFINITELY going in the direction of thin clients. --- Elsewhere, closer to home, I am transitioning my mother-in-law to *nix because Win9x is too unstable and easy for her to screw up. My making a cleaner GUI and taking away superuser permissions from her I'll admin her machine remotely. This will save me (and she) endless headaches. --- So the short answer is schools AREN'T buying desktop OSs. You're stuck in a 10 year old rhetoric that doesn't match up to present day reality. Sorry. -JCJ
