Five US Navy ships, no major ones, in Subic Bay now, first port call since the Visiting Forces Agreement. Very low profile, sailors restricted to the secured area and not very visible even there. The bar owners up in Calapacuan are moaning in their beer about the disgustingly puritanical ways of the new Navy, but the folks in charge obviously don't want any negative publicity.

Interesting to see if they are building up to more frequent calls, or toward trying to preposition equipment here. Most of the old Naval Magazine remains intact (right down to the signs on the bunkers screaming "Do not attempt to enter - deadly force may be used without warning") and vacant.

We'll see.
