I don't know whether or not that is true. Some reports have stated that in order to settle, Microsoft had to stipulate that they harmed the consumer; in which case they wouldn't have been any better off than losing in court. The devil is in the details, and nobody knows for sure what details the government was unwilling to negotiate. Either way, we've already passed that exit. Steve
