I didn't see this posted, but since there is a land grab going on in Canada (it went to NT), there's also a much smaller one that just occured in NC........Here's CSFB's take:

JDSU To Expand MEMS Production Capacity

ú JDSU announced definitive agreement to purchase a 177K square foot facility (from MOT) on 107 acres in Research Triangle Park, NC; Terms of the transaction were not disclosed; Initial production from new facility scheduled in Q2:C01.

ú The expansion plans are specifically related to increased production capabilities of MEMS devices (Cronos acquisition); Included in the 177K sq ft increase is an addt?l 22K sq ft of clean room space (from 3K today); Anticipate Cronos division will more than double its workforce over next 12 mo to approx 170 people; Cronos? total capacity is anticipated to support revenues in the hundreds of million of dollars range.

ú Believe that significant build-out of MEMS production capacity reflects strong customer demand for this emerging switching solution; Continue to view JDSU as core holding in the optical component/module industry based upon its broad product line of active and passive components, integration capabilities, and strong execution track record;
