I would suggest consulting not only CDC, but possibly NIH? I am working on a case where NIH was able to make a diagnosis that Fairfax Hospital was unable to make. Of course, since New York has such a large population of people from all over the world, they are probably familiar with diseases most doctors in the US only read about in books.
