One can only hope. I have a friend whose daughter died of the plague. She got it in New Mexico, but became symptomatic in South Carolina, and the doctors never thought to look for it, since it never turns up outside the Southwest. Only after they consulted the CDC was it identified, and by that time, it was too late, she was too far gone. Sometimes one needs to get outside of the box.....
